Josephine Daines Clark returned to her Heavenly Father on August 4, 2018. She passed away at her home in Morgan, Utah at the age of 91.
Josephine was born in Hyde Park, Utah, on May 10, 1927, to Joseph B. and Martha Hansen Daines, the youngest of 16 children. She married Rich Ellis Clark in the Logan Temple on June 6, 1951. She and Rich raised 10 children in Morgan on their family dairy farm teaching them to follow their example of working hard, accomplishing much, enjoying life and living the gospel.
Utah State University was her alma mater and she later worked for USU as a Morgan County Home Economist and 4-H agent for 20 years. She taught at Morgan Elementary and loved education and teaching.
Josephine was an active and committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with a strong testimony of the gospel. She faithfully served in many positions at the ward and stake level. After retirement, she volunteered at the LDS Church Museum for 13 years, a service she loved and where a passion for sewing was appreciated and useful.
Traveling and learning about other cultures led her to visit China, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, several South Pacific Islands, South America and extensive travel through Europe and the United States. She developed this interest as a participant in the first International Farm Youth Exchange Program. She spent the summer of 1949 in Holland, where she made lifelong friends and developed a love for tulips.
She always had a large garden and loved to use and share all the produce. Raspberry pies and creamed peas and potatoes were a summer treat. If she wasn’t weeding or watering, she was at her sewing machine late into the night. She was good at most crafts and even made the stained glass windows for her front door. Her home was filled with handmade rugs and reupholstered furniture.
She is survived by 10 children; Kenny (Shanna) of Brigham City, Utah; Karen (Daron) Haddock of Morgan, Utah; Perry (Anne) of Morgan, Utah; Brent (Cindy) of Morgan, Utah; Joe (Cam) of Fort Worth, Texas; Jed (Sharma) of Wellsville, Utah; Carl (Laura) of Draper, Utah; Paul (Shelayne) of Wellsville, Utah; Bruce (Jennifer) of Morgan, Utah; Patrice (Brian) Johnson of Kaysville, Utah. She also has 46 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Her husband Rich, 15 siblings, a grandson, Isaac Johnson and a great-granddaughter, Evalynne Clark preceded her in death.
