Joyce McCurdy

Jeanette Joyce Johnson McCurdy passed away October 4, 2012 at her home.
She was born on September 1, 1929 in San Diego, California. Her parents were Vivian Howard Johnson and Juanita LaVon Gidney. She met her husband Gail Francis McCurdy on December 11, 1947 while at an M-Men and Gleaners picnic at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. After Gail returned from Korea in May 1951, they were married June 4, 1951 at an LDS Church in San Diego, California. They were sealed May 17, 1956 in the Los Angeles Temple.
She had two sons and one daughter: Gail Francis McCurdy, Jr., born October 19, 1952 at USN Hospital, San Diego, California; Thomas James McCurdy, born October 8, 1953 at USN Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas; and Lynette Maureen McCurdy Card, born July 28, 1955 at USN Dispensary at Naval Air Station, Coronado, California.
During Gail's Naval career, the family moved many times in 20 years to such places as Great Lakes, Illinois; Astoria, Oregon; Portsmouth, Virginia; Corpus Christi, Texas; Vallejo, California; and Bremerton, Washington.
She had been a Relief Society President in three different wards, sang in many choirs and sang solos wherever she lived.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 12 noon in the Mountain Green Rose Hills Chapel.
