Joye Crouch

September 19, 1924 — June 12, 2009

MORGAN - Beverly Joye Heiner Crouch passed away very peacefully in the comfort of her own home on Friday June 12, 2009.

Joye was born to Daniel and Hattie Heiner on September 19, 1924 in Morgan, the youngest girl among a large group of siblings. Mom always talked about growing up in Morgan and how much she enjoyed her days spent at Como Springs, swimming, life guarding, roller skating and especially working in the hot dog stand.

Joye met and married a hometown boy, the love of her life, Douglas "Mac" McIver Crouch. Their early years were spent in traveling while Mac was serving in the armed forces. They chose to settle back in Morgan, building their own log home which they lived in and raised their family. Joye still lived in the same home at the time of her death.

Joye and Mac belonged to the National Search and Rescue, publishing their monthly news letter for quite a number of years. They enjoyed traveling to the annual Conventions and meeting with all their friends. Joye was an avid bowler and in later years a great golfer. More recently, she loved crocheting, trips to Wendover and playing Mexican Train with her friends at Senior Citizens. What she will most be remembered for is her weekly column in the Morgan County News titled "The Other Side of 80" which actually started out as "The Other Side of 50". This was the light of her life and she loved talking to people about it.

Joye and Mac had four children: Douglas Crouch of Morgan, Dr. Beverly O'Connor of Ogden, Wendy (Kevin) Barber of Morgan and Scott Crouch of Layton. Joye has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Douglas "Mac" Crouch. Her parents and her in-laws Daisy and Herbert Crouch, brothers, Column, Milo, Ronald, Garland and sisters Marvella, Ina & Dott.

The family would like to sincerely thank IHC Hospice, especially Nurses Sandy And Robyn with a special thank you to mom's special hospice care giver and close friend Dawn Hamblin who could always make her smile.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 12 noon at the Rock Chapel in Morgan. Friends and family may call Monday, June 15, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m at Walker Mortuary in Morgan. and Tuesday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m at the church.
