Kathleen Rees

Kathy passed away quietly in her home on Sunday February 18th, surrounded by her family. She passed due to complications from breast cancer. She was born to Theron and Lucille Corless Hatch in Ogden, UT. Kathy was the youngest of four siblings and was raised in Randolph, UT. She graduated in 1966 from South Rich High School where she was a cheerleader and The Rich County Dairy Princess. She graduated from USU with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Kathy taught English for one year at Tooele High School, then married Joseph Scott Rees in the Logan LDS temple on June 4, 1971. They were married for 47 years during which she raised ten wonderful children.

Kathy was always active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and gave a lifetime of service in numerous ward and stake callings. She and her husband later served a mission to the Dominican Republic teaching music. She devoted her life to the service of others but her dedication to her spouse, children, and 40+ grandchildren was unsurpassed. Her family was the center and focus of her very being.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and a brother. She is survived by her husband Scott and children; Brandon (Alys) Rees, Melia (Chris) Moore, Alysha (Austin) Turner, Joe (Hannah) Rees, Garret (Brooke) Rees, Megan (Nate) Clark, Jake (Cami) Rees, Ellie (Chris) Giblette, Jamie (Ben) Blomquist, Kelsey (Levi) Dickson, sister DeeAnne (Ken) Brown, and brother Brent (Renae) Hatch.

Funeral services will be held at the Morgan Utah Stake Center Friday Feb. 23, at 11:00 AM. An open house will be held Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stake Center and Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Croydon Cemetery.
