Kevin Gunn

February 17, 1958 — June 30, 2013

Beloved Brother, Fun loving Uncle, Friend and "Our Hero"

HOYTSVILLE - On 6-30-2013, after a courageous battle with Cancer, Kevin E. Gunn was called to his home in heaven to be greeted by his Heavenly Father and loved ones. Kevin left this earthly life surrounded by family.

Kevin E. Gunn was born on February 17, 1958 in East Chicago, Indiana to the parents of H. LaMarr and Winona Gunn.

Kevin had many experiences throughout his life for service and sharing his talents. Kevin loved life with the challenges and joys that it brought to him. He cared and loved others and love was given in return. Kevin dedicated his time, energy and effort to make others happy without thinking of himself. He loved watching and participating in sports, such as basketball in High School, church basketball and umpiring softball games for the City of Coalville. As the umpire, he gained respect from his peers and others, as Kevin was stalwart in his decisions of the game. He enjoyed the excitement of the game and the people involved.

The outdoors was another enjoyment where he would bask in God's creations on the mountains hunting or relaxing. He loved life and what it meant for him. He loved working with his hands with leather, woodworking and technology. He shared his talent with others. Kevin worked at many different jobs. Some of those jobs included construction, sheetrock worker, retail, computer operator and Smiths Department manager. He was respected and admired by many. He liked these times for sharing, playing or just goofing off. Kevin gave of himself freely to make others happy and expected nothing in return.

This experience started in 1976, when he graduated from High School and his Grandmother Gunn asked him to come to Utah from California and live with her, due to the recent passing of Grandfather Gunn. He made many sacrifices for others but still was able to enjoy life and make vacation trips to California and other sites.

He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Christian H. Gunn, Covina CA. Kevin is survived by his brothers Theras Gunn (Carol) Lehi Utah, Craig Gunn (Audrie) Pocatello Idaho, Trent Gunn (Yvette) Brigham City, Utah; loving sister Marlys Stevens, Hoytsville, Utah; and sister-in-law Barbara Gunn, Covina, California.

The funeral services will be held on Saturday July 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoytsville LDS Church in Hoytsville, Utah. The viewing will be Friday July 5th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. and one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Burial will be at the Hoytsville Cemetery under the direction of Walker Mortuary.

The family wishes to give a big thank you to the Applegate Hospice Caregivers for their loving care for Kevin.
