On April 23rd, 2025 Kiara Jo Trussell took off on her final adventure, leaving behind the challenges she faced in this life. Born in Ogden, Utah on July 7th, 1999 to Kory Trussell and Jessica Mecham, Kiara spent her entire 25 years on this earth making the most of every moment—she was truly a force to be reckoned with.
Whether she was hunting, fishing, boating, or riding side-by-sides, Kiara found sanctuary in the great outdoors with her friends, family, and pets. She especially enjoyed attending the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) Summer Camp. Her absolute favorite way to experience nature was speeding through it on anything with a motor; the faster the better. She lived for the adrenaline rush—laughing in the face of fear, always pushing for one more ride, one more trail, one more shot at breaking the sound barrier.
Kiara had a remarkable ability to make others laugh, even during the most difficult of situations. She always sought to lift others up, leaving an impact on everyone she encountered. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was inspired by her tenacity and even granted her wish to visit Disney World with her family. Her ability to inspire others combined with her passionate nature made her an amazing cheerleader. Being a member of the Box Elder High School cheer team was the highlight of her senior year before graduating in 2017. Her positive energy and competitive spirit also made her a strong competitor in the Miss Hotwheels pageant.
Despite her long battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia, she never gave up—facing each obstacle with unshakable courage, fierce independence, and a spark that never faded. FA left her with physical tribulations but could never break her spirit. Kiara fought back by speaking out about her disability and inspiring others through her YouTube and TikTok channels. She was a natural storyteller and her unique perspective on the world lives on through her videos and photography.
Kiara is survived by her parents Kory Trussell and Jessica (Joey) Mecham, her brothers Payton (Jada) Trussell, Caleb Mecham, Kayden Mecham, Tyke Mecham, and Trevor (Sydney) Messenger, her sisters Taylee Mecham and Brittany (David) Wright, Grandparents Kim and Maryann Trussell, Bryan and Lynn Boyce, Joe and Virginia Watkins, and Ila Watkins, Deloy and Lynn Mecham, her niece Eleanor Messenger, her nephew Koda Mecham, her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and hero John Cena. She is preceded in death by her stepmom Misty Jo Wright, Dorris Trussell, John Trussell, and John Brown.
Kiara’s celebration of life will include a viewing Wednesday April 30th from 6 to 8 pm at Walker Mortuary, 45 west 200 north Morgan UT. A viewing will also be held on Thursday May 1st, from 10:45 to 11:45 am and funeral services at 12:00pm , at the Henefer LDS church, 709 N Main Street.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
