LaMont Peterson

Joel LaMont Peterson (Mont), age 70, returned to his Heavenly Father Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Morgan Utah.

He was born December 11, 1937, in Richville, Morgan, Utah to John Duane Peterson and Amanda Caroline Mortenson Peterson.

He graduated from Morgan High School and Seminary in 1956. He married Patsy Jane Porter (Pat) on March 12, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He worked in construction and carpentry for many years and retired from the Custodial Maintenance Department at Morgan School District. Mont had many interests and hobbies including coin collecting, reading and the Utah Jazz.

LaMont was an active member of the LDS church. His favorite calling was Home Teaching. In his later years he touched many lives with his courage and example. He was given many challenges in his life, which he endured with strength and determination.

Dad's greatest joy in life was his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Surviving are his wife Pat of Morgan, three daughters: Robyn (Robert) Munson, West Jordan, UT; Lisa Nelson, Clearfield, UT; Shay (Matt) Peterson, Milton, UT; five granddaughters: Taryn, Courtney, Kaci and Hayley Nelson and Shambrae Peterson, also two step grandsons and four step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday March 13, 2008 at 12 noon in the Morgan Stake Chapel. Friends and family may call at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
