Laurel Brewer

Laurel M. Brewer, 89, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011. He was born August 29, 1921 in Echo, Utah, a son of Ernest H. and Julia Ann Brewer. Dad graduated from North Summit High School in 1941. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad prior to enlistment in the Navy where he flew over a million miles and was a member of the Blue Raiders during World War II. He retired from the DDO then spent years as a handyman, fishing and hunting.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several callings and as a Temple worker.

Laurel married Ruby Lance (deceased), the mother of his daughter Elaine Brewer/Crismon Waters (deceased), on September 23, 1943. He married Florence Elizabeth Smith on October 10, 1947. Their children are Laurel Joseph Brewer (Cindy) and Pearl Ann Gibson (Dave). They traveled with the Navy and lived in several locations from Guam to Maryland. She passed away June 11, 1966. On August 2, 1968, he married Irene Nielsen Boeslund and welcomed Sharlene J. Green (Russell), Jennie Knickerbocker and Harry Knickerbocker to his family. They had 42 wonderful years together riding their motorcycle, playing bingo and working on their farm. Laurel is survived by his son, daughter, stepdaughters and stepson, as well as 20 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his four sisters, Ella, Adelia, Lois, Noreen, and two brothers, Aldo and Hamilton. The family would like to thank Crestwood, George Wahlen Veterans Home and Hospice for Utah for their care and compassion.

Friends may visit on Wed. June 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary at 45 W 200 N in Morgan and Thurs., June 2 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Henefer Ward Chapel on Main Street in Henefer. Funeral services will be held Thurs. at 11:00 a.m. in Henefer. Interment in the South Morgan Cemetery with military honors.
