Leon Stott Evans, age 83, of Huntington Beach, California, passed away at his home surrounded by his family the evening of May 1, 2017.
He was born November 24, 1933, in Ogden, Utah the son of Horald John Evans and Erma Jessie Stott. He was the eldest of 9 siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and a set of twins who died at birth. He is survived by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Leon met his wife of 63 years Alice Renae Welsh from Morgan, Utah. They were married July 16, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple. Leon and Renae have 2 children, their son Terry Leon (Laurie) Evans and daughter Toni Lyn Evans. They also have 3 Grandchildren, Ryan R. Evans, Nicole Marie Evans and Megan Brittney O’Quin and 2 Great-Grandson’s, Alma Lucian Bean and Xaine Bartel Evans.
He spent his youth in Layton, and was a graduate of Davis High School in 1952. After graduating from High School, Leon worked full time in the grocery industry and spent 16 years managing supermarkets. In 1968 he began work in retail sales for the next 30 years plus. Most of that time was spent in sales management in the gourmet and specialty food distribution. He retired in June 1999.
Leon was the most caring, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a living example of generosity. His pockets were deep; not with money but with his willingness to give of himself in serving the needs of others.
Interment will be at the South Morgan Cemetery following a private family graveside service.
