Leonard Raymond Simister, age 90, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010.
Born October 16, 1919 in Coalville, Utah to Wilford and Elizabeth Simister. Married Charlotte (Dolly) Clark on July 19, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on August 25, 2001. Ray attended North Summit High School where he played the trombone in the band and participated in sports. He served on the most decorated ship in the Navy, the USS Enterprise, during World War II.
Ray worked in the coal mines, at Mountain Fuel, Bullocks Hardware Store and as a custodian for North Summit Schools. He and his dear wife, Dolly, worked side by side at North Summit High for 14 years. He loved his days at North Summit, encouraging and supporting the kids in all their endeavors.
He enjoyed fishing, watching all sports, shopping, and working in his beautiful yard. But most of all, he loved his family. He touched many lives with his example of hard work and integrity.
He is survived by his loving wife; son, Kent (Patsy) Simister of Las Vegas; son, Alan (Colleen) Simister of Coalville; daughter, Sharon (Lee) Eagar of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; brother, Leon (Louise) Simister of Coalville, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilford and Frank; sisters, Myrla, Rhea and Beth.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Coalville Stake Center. A viewing will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Coalville Stake Center, and Saturday from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to services. Interment at Coalville City Cemetery.
