Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Louis Levester Levy, 93, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at home in Morgan, Utah. He was born June 5, 1931, in Nampa, Idaho to Clarence Frederik Levy and Lexy Marian Weech.
At 20 years old he became a 2nd LT in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam war having flown over 100 missions over North Vietnam in an F-105, earning him several Distinguished Flying Cross medals and ten Air Medals for “meritorious achievement” in aerial flight. He retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel in 1976 at Eglin Air Force Base, Ft. Walton Beach, FL. During his military career, he received a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering.
In December 1954, he married Elizabeth “Bette” Elrod; from his marriage came 3 beautiful children: Lisa, Julie, and John. He and Bette later divorced, and he married Emory P. Sunday, in December 1976. They enjoyed 38 fulfilling years together, both while working and after retirement traveling in their multiple motorhomes.
Lou is survived by daughters Lisa (Doug) DeBarth of Phoenix, NY and Julie (Dana) White of Tallahassee, FL; 2 stepsons Steve (Karen) Sunday of Wasola, MO and Stan (Lynette) Sunday of Centerville, UT and 17 grandchildren and 60 (and counting) great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, loving wife Emory Sunday Levy and son, John Levy.
His funeral will be at 11:00am on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the LDS Rock Church in Morgan. A viewing will also be held at the church from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to the service. Interment in the South Morgan Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walker Mortuary.
