Living a life by demonstrating being “Good, Kind, and Loving” to everyone, Lujean “Jeannie” Rust Nandu earned her wings and returned to Heaven after a long battle of cancer on Friday night of July 12, 2024.
“Jeannie” was surrounded by her family and most importantly her “Knight in Shining Armor” Derek Nandu, who was there every step of the way, through it all.
Lujean was born on April 26, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elton Ray Rust, and Lydia Clarinda Brandt Rust. She was the youngest of four siblings who she loved dearly. She spent most of her childhood life in Morgan, Utah where she also attended Morgan High School, graduating in 1981.
In 1984, Lujean dedicated her life to Christ and was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on the Little Rock, Arkansas mission. Upon returning from her mission, she attended Weber State University. She was enrolled in Institute where she would meet her eternal companion Derek Andrew Nandu. They were married for all time and eternity in her “Castle”, The Salt Lake City Temple on February 20, 1988.
Lujean and her “Prince Charming” Derek, were blessed by having 4 beautiful children. Aaron Andrew, Johnny Ray, Angelina Jean, and Mikayla Shanelle. Where they lived throughout the years was Morgan, Layton, and Washington Terrace, just to name a few.
Lujean learned in life to serve others with love and kindness from her mother and father. It did not matter if it was her family or even a stranger. She would accept you as the Savior would “as you are”. Lujean always loved being in the service of others. All who knew her would know if you needed a hug, she was there. If there was something you needed help doing, she was there. Her smile would light up the darkest days. Her laugh was contagious (Ask her sisters) and would turn the biggest frowns upside down.
Lujean was not only a loving person, but she was also filled with passion. Some of her passions were the art & crafts, Music of all kinds, Singing, baking, laughing and joking, car rides and traveling. She loved to visit with her friends and family. Serving others in any way she could was one of her most favorite. She loved going to church, the temple, and most of all she loved Christ with all her heart.
Lujean was preceded in death by: Her (father) Elton and (mother) Lydia Rust, (brother) Douglas Rust, (Uncle) Sonny Brandt, her in-laws of (father) Jisbant and (mother) Nancy Ngamakawe Moke Nandu, (brother) Jerry Savage, and (sister) Chany Nandu. Also, so many other relatives that Jeannie loved and cared for, the list would be never-ending.
Lujean is survived by her husband Derek, four children: Aaron (Tori), Johnny, Angelina (Manase), and Mikayla (Austin), eight grandchildren: Nicki, Lia, Lily, Amanaki, Tane, Lehvi, Kaylee, and Isaac.
