Margaret Sakizzie

November 11, 1916 — April 6, 2008

Margaret Blackhorse Lee Sakizzie was born on November 11, 1916 at Goodman's Point, Colorado to Hosteen and Astaan Blackhorse. She left mortality on Sunday April 6, 2008.

Margaret was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary Presidency and in the Relief Society Presidency. She translated church meetings into Navajo in the early 1970's and took part in translating The Book of Mormon into Navajo.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Boyd, her children: Benjamin Lee of Gallup, NM; Elizabeth (Jimmy) Holly of Montezuma Creek, UT; Herman and Terri Sakizzie of Farmington, NM; Marjorie V. Sakizzie and Rena (Karl) Hopkins of Aneth, UT; Lora (Mark) Thurston of Morgan, Utah; Frederick M. Sakizzie of Salt Lake City, UT. Also 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lee, her siblings: Mary Lee, Carmelita Nolgot, Taft Blackhorse, Thomas Blackhorse and Ella S. Thomas. Also her children: Melvin H., Carmelita, Virgil Vernon, Charlotte, Wilbert Nolgot and Franklyn Nolgot.

We want to extend a special thanks to Dr. Gregory Almony and his staff, past and present doctors, the staff of Morgan Medical Center, Fred Large, Mikki of Alpine Hospice, and to the staff of Aspen Care Center. They took extra special care of our precious mother and grandmother.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday April 9, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Blanding Stake Center, 100 W 800 N. Blanding, Utah. Viewings will be held Monday April 7, 2008, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 W. 200 N., Morgan, Utah and on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from 6 to 8 at San Juan Mortuary, Blanding, Utah.
