Marilyn Thomas Bullock of New Castle, Colorado and Anchor Point, Alaska passed away August 5, 2008 in Homer, Alaska after an eight-month battle with cancer.
Marilyn was born in Palo Alto, California on March 25, 1930 to Max and Verda Batchelor Thomas. She grew up in Nephi, Utah where she graduated from Juab High School. After graduation she attended the University of Utah and met Lloyd H. Bullock. They were married on June 22, 1951. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Marilyn had many interests. She loved Colorado and doing anything outdoors. She felt blessed to spend almost half her life on the ranch. She had a beautiful garden, loved birds and raised game birds and Jacob sheep. She was a lovely violinist who shared her talents often in church and the community. Marilyn was also a member of the infamous Ginger Cookie Band and loved entertaining people throughout the area. Marilyn worked for more than 20 years for Colorado Mountain College, first as an instructor in Secretarial Sciences and then as the Director of Purchasing. She retired from the college in 1995.
Marilyn had a full and happy life. She was able to travel to many parts of the world and traveled with Lloyd on business for the last several years. Marilyn and Lloyd enjoyed Alaska so much they spent their summers there and recently built a cabin in Anchor Point.
Marilyn's greatest love was her family. She adored being a Grandma. She would do anything for and with her children and grandchildren. She was a great teacher who had a gift for making everything in life interesting and fun.
Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings including seminary instructor, ward chorister, Relief Society president and pianist.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Lloyd, daughters Beverly (Alex) Kamas of Grand Junction, Colorado, Kristine Bullock of Riverton, Utah, Marielle (Troy) Jordan of Draper, Utah and daughter-in-law Patty Bullock of New Castle, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gordon Thomas, son Tom Bullock and grandson Xander Jordan. Marilyn is also survived by her grandchildren Andrew and Kati Kamas, Jake Bullock, Max, Tabitha, Connor, Parker, and Brenna Jordan, sister Barbara Kelley, brother and sister-in-law Clair and Margaret Wright and sister-in-law Janice Thomas as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mourners can pay their respects at the LDS church in Coalville, Utah on Tuesday, August 12 at noon. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm and the interment will take place at the Coalville City Cemetery immediately after the funeral.
A memorial service will be held in Rifle, Colorado at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on the corner of 16th and Birch, Saturday, August 16 at 11 am.
