Marlene Marie Hamilton Bosworth passed away peacefully in her home in Smithfield, UT with family by her side on June 15, 2023.
Daughter of Howard Nelson and Dora Mangum Hamilton was born in Pipestone, Pipestone County, Minnesota on April 10, 1935.
Marlene graduated from Flandreau High School in South Dakota and shortly afterward moved to Corinne, UT staying with her relatives where she met a young man who captured her eye in her new Sunday School class. Our mom ultimately married Wayne Dean Bosworth on August 21, 1953.
Mother supported our dad throughout his years of medical schooling, moving around the country as our family grew, and settling us in each time. Mom loved continuing to learn about the gospel and teaching us as we grew to a family of seven children.
We remember her as a Primary teacher taking photos of our classes; she was also a Cub Scout Leader. She was a faithful Visiting Teacher. She loved Relief Society and was at one time President of the organization.
Mom was very creative and enjoyed sewing, painting, drawing, all varieties of needlework, quilting, canning, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, horses. She encouraged her children to develop their own talents and always delighted in what they accomplished. She and dad traveled many places to medical conventions and to exotic places where they met and loved people from all over the world. They even served a medical mission in Utah/Idaho which they loved.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband of 53 years, two children, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is survived by their children: Colleen Marie (Val), Gayle Rose (Ben), Arnold Wayne (Melanie), Michael Bedford, Frederick Drew (Lisa), and 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Mother had a lot of responsibility for Becky over 51 plus yrs of her life having chosen to care for her at home.
She was greatly loved in life and will be missed.
We are grateful for the doctors and their teams, the nurses and staff, and the Hospice nurses from Inspiration and Enhabit Hospice, McKay-Dee and Logan Regional Hospitals and Life Flight. All were professional and extremely kind making valiant efforts to save our mother.
