Mary Bowers

April 25, 1945 — May 2, 2022

Mountain Green

Monday, May 2, 2022, in Morgan UT, Mary Patricia Ingold Bowers was welcomed back to her eternal home. She was greeted by her son, Peter, and husband, Jerry who had to cut short a trip to the heavenly equivalent of Walmart to meet her.

On April 25, 1945 a mild, unassuming girl, Mary, was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Ernest and Alice Ingold. Mary has an older sister Judy (Bob) Beary who she adores and two younger brothers. Albert (called home much too early at only 5 days old) and John (Karla) Ingold who always brought a smile to Mary’s face.

Mary never had any showy talents like singing, dancing or playing an instrument as such had at one point considered herself to not have any talents. However, she had the best and most wonderful kind of talents… that of a tender, loving heart and compassion. She was patient and not afraid of getting dirty to help someone in need.

Another talent that made her stand out in a crowd was she cheered loud for her family. She believed having someone on your side and rooting for you was vital. When her kids told her good news, she’d often fist pumped with a shout of joy and happy dance (even for the little victories).

Mary and her beloved husband Jerry, had 7 children, one girl and a half dozen boys. They would joke that they had one and a half dozen kids because they welcomed anyone who happened to need an extra set of loving, supporting arms around them. It is the desire to love and support each other that makes us families, not simply blood.

Mary was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was known for reading storybooks, and having the ultimate stocked Grandma’s activity box with everything necessary to make slime or soap bubbles and bring out a child’s imagination. Plus, she never complained about having to clean up.

Mary learned sign language after one of her friends went deaf and use that skill to serve others translating for the hearing impaired both professionally and for friends.

Mary’s life long passion was family history work. With the help of her sweetheart, Jerry, they collected pictures and stories that would allow a simple name to become someone you felt you knew.

She is survived by her children: Micheal (Toni), Mathew (Maria), Amy (Vance) Holt, Andrew (Holly), Joshua (Rebecca), Jared (Jennie), Daniel (Monica) Smith, and Dean Walker. In addition to her sister Judy Beary and brother John (Karla) Ingold.

In lieu of flowers, Mary loved to donate to the Jacob Mitchell missionary fund. He is currently serving a mission in the Colorado Denver North Mission. You can donate online through a Church of Jesus Christ registered account or with a mail in form - Unit number 88080 Jacob Mitchell.
