Matt Franich

On Sept 17, 2016 a butterfly came through and helped a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend on his journey from this life.

He was born Matthew Joseph Franich on June 19, 1941 to Joseph Mathew and Violet Lavina Scritchfield Franich in Rock Springs, WY.

Matt graduated from Morgan High School and Joined the US Air Force where he served for 30 years including service in Vietnam.  He married Jessie Kilburn on Oct. 4, 1971 in Elko, NV.  Two years later they welcomed their first daughter, Marnie Franich.  She preceded her father in death in 2012.  Rana Franich was welcomed as their second daughter and a son, Torrey Joseph Franich later joined the family.   Matt also has a son, Jim Randolph,  and a daughter, Michelle Walters from a previous marriage.  He also raised Michale Warner, his step-son, as his own.

Matt left the service and later worked as a jet engine technician for Pratt and Whitney in Saudia Arabia and Holland for a total of ten years.    He started out a drug store cowboy and ended up becoming a full blown cowboy through the guidance of his loving wife.  After 37 years of marriage he was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and three years later they were sealed as a family in the Bountiful Temple.  He had a passion for classic cars and fishing.   Matt was a loving, caring provider to his family.  The hole in our hearts will be there forever.

Matt also leaves behind a legacy of six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at 11 am at the Morgan 6th Ward chapel, 2700 South Morgan Valley Drive, Porterville, UT.  Friends and family may call at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, UT, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Porterville Cemetery.

Thanks to the George Wahlen angels and the Bristol Hospice that took such good care of Matt. They loved him as one of their own.
