Matthew Olsen

On the morning of December 4th, 2020, our son Matthew Alton Olsen, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the Hillcrest Care Center in Midvale, Utah at the age of 34.  Many of our friends in Morgan may remember him as a young, energetic, “special needs” boy who sometimes rode his tricycle where he should not have been if his inexhaustible mother took her eye off him for just a moment.

The cruel ravages of autism robbed him of his speech when he was about three years of age, which he never regained.  He enjoyed being at school with teachers, peer tutors and other kids in the special needs environment.  We are grateful to the staff and students who enjoyed and tolerated his playful and sometimes mischievous personality.  Everyone treated him so well during those years, it made for a happy childhood.

We are also grateful for the loving care and attention he received over the past twenty years at the care center where he has been living.  They did so much for him that we could never have done at home.  I am sure there is a special place in heaven for people like that.

He is now free of his imperfect body, which will be laid to rest for now, until we meet again to share happier times.
Matthew is survived by his two sisters,  Angela and Melissa as well his two brothers,  Andrew and David.  He is also survived by his parents, Edward and Sharlene Olsen.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 12 noon at the Porterville Church. Those services will be livestreamed on Matt’s page at www.walker-mortuary.com. A viewing will be held from 11 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.

Interment will follow at the South Morgan Cemetery
