Morgan a�" Maurell Dee Brown, 79, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his mother on April 23, 2011. He was born July 8, 1931 to Cyril Devier Brown and Eva Christiansen Brown in Monroe, Utah.
Dad attended school in South Sevier, graduating high school in 1950. He then went on to study at Snow College and Brigham Young University. Dad graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
He was proud to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he served in the Korean War.
Dad is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Swiss Austrian Mission as a young man. He also served with mom in Chesterfield, Idaho and Cove Fort, Utah. He faithfully served in many callings throughout his life, but missionary work was his favorite.
Our father met mom while they were both serving missions in 1955. They were married in the Logan LDS temple on July 9, 1958.
Dad worked for the US Forest Service in Cache Valley while attending school, which he loved. He retired from Hill AFB after 30 years where he worked with the minute man missile.
He was raised on a farm and always enjoyed everything about farming. Dad was an avid BYU fan and always enjoyed talking about the ballgames. He loved horses and raising birds, which included pheasants, racing pigeons, but black chickens were his favorite. He loved going to his cabins and enjoyed being in the mountains. He took pride in always being the family "supervisor" whenever there was a project to be done.
He is survived by his loving and very devoted wife of 52 years, Betty Jean. Children are William Dee (Gerri) Brown, Ogden; Deborah (John) Weaver and Richard Todd (Jana) Brown of Morgan. He has 8 grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren who loved their grandpa. Siblings are Ronald Clair Brown, Mona Lou Blakeley, Mac Ray Brown, and Douglas Peter Brown.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the loving employees at the Family Tree Assisted Living in Morgan a�" we love you all. Also a special thanks to the staff at Vista Care Hospice of Utah for your loving care of our father.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Old Rock Chapel in Morgan, 10 W. Young St. Friends may visit the family on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary located at 45 W 200 N in Morgan and Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Rock Chapel. Interment will be at the South Morgan Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
