Misty Jo Wright, aged 50, peacefully left this world on August 20th, 2024. Born on June 9th, 1974—Misty was a beloved daughter, mother, and friend whose life was marked by both challenges and triumphs. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and curiosity.
She felt everything so deeply, always finding the profound within the mundane. Her immense curiosity fueled a creative drive that she channeled into learning new skills. The many passions and interests that served as an outlet for her creative energy gave her a sense of purpose and pride. Reading, writing, and poetry were such a huge part of her being and we will be spending the next 50 years making our way through the neverending piles of notes and journals left behind.
Nature provided a sense of comfort and peace in life, and will continue to do so as her body returns to the earth. Whether it was something simple like sitting on her porch sipping tea late at night, or hiking up a mountain for the perfect picture of a lake, she thrived being outdoors alongside her beloved pups. Through her love of riding motorcycles she found joy in the camaraderie and freedom of the open road. The thrill of the ride and the connections she made were cherished memories that she held dear.
Those close to her knew what a strong personality she had—one of her best but also most annoying traits that she inherited from her family. Her sense of humor and overall goofiness gave her the ability make friends easily anywhere she went. She loved with all of her heart so the bonds she had were strong and often filled with nuance. She may not have shared these strong feelings often, but her care for others ran deep. Life is complicated and relationships change over time, but we can confidently say that Misty had a positive impact on everyone in her life at one point or another.
Empathy was one of her strongest motivators not just personally, but professionally as well. The Summit County Sherrif’s Department provided the strongest sense of pride in her for 17 years. She was able to channel her curious nature through her position as an Evidence Technician and felt so passionately about helping others, that she even spent time outside of her job volunteering with Search & Rescue.
Misty leaves behind a heartbroken family to join those that she always carried in her heart. Her daughter, son, mother, and father accompanied her in her final moments of this life—ensuring that she left knowing what a profound impact she had made, not just on our lives, but everyone she knew.
Misty is survived by her daughter Brittany (David) Wright, son Trevor (Sydney) Messenger, granddaughter Eleanor Messenger, stepson Payton (Jada) Trussell, stepdaughter Kiara Trussell, mother Lynn Boyce, and father Bryan Boyce.
Her family will be holding a Celebration of Life and sharing memories Wednesday August 28th, from 6pm–7pm at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah.
Misty loved her doofy dogs and cats more than anything, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society. https://bestfriends.org/donate
