The man, the myth, the legend; David Morris Fife passed away peacefully in his home on June 23, 2022. He was a hardworking, tenderhearted, beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great Grand Father. Morris was born on February 20, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to George Adam and Nedra Justesen Fife-Freeman. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. He was raised in the Ogden area but spent most of his life in Morgan. He will be remembered for his love of camping, snowmobiling, animals, children of all ages and gardening. He took his sagebrush-filled acreage and turned it into a ‘Garden of Eden’ for his family to enjoy.
Morris married his sweetheart, Merla, on October 17, 1955; they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Morris loved and lived the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He grew up listening and learning to love the scriptures at the feet of his mother. He was truly an example of Christ like love. He served in many callings in the church but most enjoyed his time spent with the youth in primary and nursery. His stories of the tender feelings he had, for the youth he served over the years, can be recalled by many family members as he would sit and reminisce with them.
Morris set an amazing example to his 9 children, 35 grandchildren, and 57 great grandchildren; as well as to the many community members who he spent his life serving with selfless, genuine love. Morris enjoyed working hard and owned and operated D. Morris Fife Concrete Company. The proof of his hard work and dedicated labor can be seen all throughout the valley that he loved so dearly. He worked hard to provide for his family and sacrificed all that he had for them. He taught them to serve others by example. Morris would never pass by a person, animal, or any living organism in need and not do all that he could to assist. Anything, or anyone, that was encountered by Morris Fife was left in a better place.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Clyde B. Freeman; a son, Morris Anthony Fife; a brother, John C. Freeman; a brother, John Lee Fife; a great grandson, Stetson Petersen; his in-laws, Iola Baxter, Merl & Elizabeth Baxter; a brother in-law John Baxter; a brother in-law Verle Connary.
He is survived by his eternal companion of 66 years, Merla; his children, Janelle (Rich) Skeen, Georgene (Jeff) Carter, Carolyn (Arlin) Ovard, Linda (Dallen) Wilcox, Kim (Chris) Mikesell, Adam (Coerina) Fife, Jennifer (Ed) Kinsey, Tiffany Fife; his siblings Dorothy Baxter, Nedra (David) Skidmore, Julia Connary, Kathleen (Jim) Clark, Ralph (Bonnie) Freeman, and David (Darla) Freeman.
