Myrna Lorraine Porter Boggess passed away peacefully in her home on May 10, 2024 with her faithful pup Rocky by her side. Myrna was born in Bingham, Utah on September 9, 1940 to E. Merl and Alice Porter. She was the third of seven children and was proud of her family’s pioneer heritage. Myrna lived in Bingham, Taylorsville, North Salt Lake, Bountiful, and resided for most of her life in Mountain Green with the last three years in North Ogden. She was sealed to Kent R Boggess in the Salt Lake Temple on February 15, 1961. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and spent her life serving others in the church and elsewhere. Myrna had a wide variety of hobbies, interests, and talents, including sewing, painting, quilting, crafting, decorating, and of course, shopping. She enjoyed traveling the world and always looked forward to camping, boating, and swimming with her children and grandchildren. Myrna loved animals and delighted in owning and rehabbing them. She took great pleasure talking on the phone, and was always thinking of others by picking out special gifts for them. Her family meant everything to her and her favorite activity was spending time with them. Myrna was a people person and truly glowed during any interactions with others. Those familiar with Myrna know that she is already busily redecorating her new slice of heaven by adding her own touches while singing and humming a joyful song. Once done with the task at hand, she will quickly move on to picking out new names for her new heavenly neighbors and their pets.
Myrna was a loyal daughter, sister, and wife; a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a generous, faithful, and thoughtful friend. She unselfishly put the needs and wants of others before her own and found joy and happiness in doing so.
Myrna was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Charlotte Collier, and her son Rich Kent Boggess. Myrna is survived by her husband of 63 years Kent R Boggess; Siblings: Doris (Vivian) Butt , Linda Dove Handcock, Sandy (Clark) Mower, Suzie (Denny) Gibson, and Stan (Mary Kay) Porter; Children: Dirk (JoAnn) Boggess, Bret (Jeannette) Boggess, Jill (Shawn) Dean, and Bary Boggess; 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
We find comfort in knowing that Myrna has been joyfully reunited with her beloved son Rich, and other cherished family members who have gone before her. It brings us a sense of peace to envision that long awaited embrace.
Myrna is no longer tethered by the burdens of mortality, having shed the husks of infirmity, she is set free. We love you Myrna. Until we meet again.
It was Mom’s wish that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to an animal charity of your choice.
Of all the special joys in life,
The big ones and the small,
A mothers love and tenderness
Is the greatest of them all. ~Anon
