Nedra Gledhill Tucker

April 17, 1923 — February 2, 2025

Morgan

Nedra Gledhill Tucker passed away peacefully in Morgan, Utah, on February 2, 2025, at the age of 101. She was born in Boulder, Garfield County, Utah, on April 17, 1923, to Albert Franklin Gledhill and Sarah Jane Haws.

Nedra lived a remarkable life filled with patriotism, service, and joy. She was consistent with her love for each family member and with every other person she encountered. She touched the lives of many with kindness and generosity and welcomed into her home anyone needing a listening ear. A devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and friend, she found immense joy in serving those within her sphere of influence. Mom was known for her love of learning, her passion for reading, and her culinary skills. What she lacked in singing ability was compensated for by her love of music and dancing. She had a passion for travel and created fond memories during trips to Hawaii and Tahiti. She loved traveling to Boulder and Escalante to visit family and friends and enjoyed mink pelt sale trips to New York and Seattle with her husband, Ken. She talked fondly about visits to see her son, Steven, at his Navy duty stations across the globe, and trips in her later years with her dear friend Marion Chase.

Nedra completed her elementary through high school education in Baggs, Wyoming. She attended college at the University of Wyoming and in 1943 earned her Registered Nurse degree from Holy Cross School of Nursing and St. Mary’s of the Wasatch in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thereafter she was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where she served as a nurse from 1944 until 1946. Her most memorable wartime service was in India caring for World War II servicemen, many of whom were former prisoners of war. Soon after her Army discharge as a First Lieutenant, Mom used her nursing skills working in polio clinics, and later within her own home and throughout her local neighborhood.

Nedra married Kenneth James Tucker on July 26, 1950, in the old North Morgan Chapel, Morgan, Utah. The ceremony was performed by Patriarch Sid Heiner. Mom and Dad were sealed in the Ogden, Utah, Temple on January 8, 1993, by Keith “Cotton” Little. Mom and Dad had an exemplary 50-year marriage. Kenneth passed away in 2000, and in 2006 she married Gale Allen and enjoyed a happy marriage, which ended with Gale’s passing in 2010.

Nedra served the Morgan community as a charter member of The Morgan Culturettes Club, Chairperson of The Red Cross Blood Bank, and President of the Parent-Teacher Association.

Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Savior and served in various Church leadership and teaching roles, including scouting and as the Relief Society President of the Morgan 2nd Ward. She was still fulfilling her ministering assignments at age 100. She worked hard and served well. She will be remembered by her family and neighbors as a wonderful and loving spouse, mother and community member.

Mom is survived by her six children: Kevin Tucker (Cathy), Steven Tucker (Anne), Terilyn Ross (Russell), Karen Tucker, Kendra Sue Rees Collins (Kent), and Tamara Olsen (Pete), together with 41 grandchildren, and 119 great-grandchildren.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents; her five siblings, John Clifford Gledhill, Que Haws Gledhill, Bessie Mina Gledhill, Woodrow A. Gledhill, Curlin Joseph Gledhill; her two husbands; a daughter-in-law, Caprice Spainhower Tucker (Kevin); a son-in-law, Stanley Jaques Rees (Kendra); and a great-granddaughter, Paige Nelson.

Nedra’s family thanks The Family Tree Assisted Living Center and its caring staff. Tina and Cori of Quality Home Care and Hospice provided exemplary service to Nedra and her family.
