Neil C. Dawson

April 8, 1965 — August 4, 2024

Upton

Neil C. Dawson, 59, of Upton, Utah passed away unexpectedly at the IMC in Murray, Utah on August 4, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. Neil was born April 8, 1965 to Kenneth Edsel and Wilma Jean Dawson. Neil grew up in Coalville, Utah and graduated from North Summit High School in 1983. He married Lonnie Allison on June 9, 1989, and together they had four sons: Kasey, Kodee, Mason, and Wyatt.

As a child, Neil grew up working with his dad on the family farm and mink ranch. This is where he developed his love of animals that carried throughout his life. He also developed a passion for buying and selling livestock, which he learned from his grandpa Jay. For over 30 years one of his favorite side hustles was to haul livestock to Anderson Livestock Auction. Eventually he began to trade and sell livestock for members of the community. From this he started Dawson Land and Livestock “Got no land, Got no livestock.”

In the early 90’s Neil went to Missouri Auction School, a Valentine's gift from his wife. After graduating, Neil went on to conduct auctions for hundreds of different schools, churches, and charities, his favorite being Ducks Unlimited. He would auctioneer for anyone that asked and entertained many friends, family, and strangers.

Neil had a stellar work ethic. He worked several jobs throughout his youth and young adult life, including working for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) for over 20 years. While with UDOT, Neil gained the respect of many colleagues and built countless professional relationships. He also achieved many accomplishments and received numerous awards.

Another highlight in Neil’s career was his herd of mini bulls, which at the time, was the second largest in the United States. He took them to many rodeos, and it became a very rewarding time in his life in several ways.

Neil had a heart of gold and cherished his family to the fullest, including his rescue dog Copper. He was always the life of the party and will be deeply missed.

Neil is survived by his wife Lonnie; sons Kasey, Kodee, Mason (Blakeley), and Wyatt Dawson; Father Kenneth Dawson; Siblings Mark (Paula) Dawson, Jana (Craig) Ross, and Mariann (Lonnie) Marchant; Mother-in-Law Terry Allison; and Brothers-in-Law Clint (Aimee) and Clay (Angela) Allison, and several nieces and nephews.

Neil is preceded in death by his mother Wilma Dawson; Father-in-Law Richard Dee Allison; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
