Noreen Smith Clawson

Our dear friend, mother, wife, grandmother and sister Noreen Smith Clawson passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024 around noon at Family Tree Assisted Living Center in Morgan, Utah with her beloved daughter Jamie Rogers at her side. 

After Noreen’s husband Terry died just a little over a year ago of cancer Jamie lovingly cared for her Mom at home until health challenges made a move to an assisted care facility necessary. Noreen was much loved at Family Tree for her spunky nature and delightful sense of humor. Jamie wants to thank the nurses and staff for their excellent care for her mom. 

Noreen was born in Providence, Utah the daughter of Cleon Smith and Ellen Zilles Smith. She had 7 siblings: Mary, Bryan, Gloria, Dena, Lex, Corray and Sherman. 

It may seem interesting to those of us who knew Noreen these last years that she grew up as a real outdoors loving “tom boy”—loving to ride horses, swim in creeks and camp out. But always in Noreen’s heart and soul was an elegant artistic woman creating beautiful homemade crafts to decorate her home. She loved looking lovely with makeup and hair done just right, beautiful clothing and a home and yard kept picture perfect (thanks a lot to a dedicated and loving husband). In fact all the time she lived at Family Tree she continued to have her nails and hair done ( thanks to her loving daughter Jamie). 

Noreen was a determined and sometimes stubborn lady but always a loyal friend. She was bold in standing for what she believed in and what she wanted in life. 

Noreen experienced many trials in life and came through as a “survivor”. She developed type A diabetes as a teenager and had to monitor her blood sugars throughout her life. She lost a son and daughter while they were still quite young and her beloved husband Terry passed away from cancer just a little over a year ago. 

Noreen had a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed many happy lunch and shopping dates with friends during the years much to her husband Terry’s dismay as she accumulated too many crafts and home decorations (according to his point of view!!). 

In her last year Noreen became very close to our savior and compassionate toward her family living and dead. 

Noreen is survived by: Jamie Rogers (daughter), Mary Obray (sister), Bryan & Carol Smith (brother and sister-in-law), Gloria Smith(sister), Dena Christensen (sister), Lex and Sue Ann Smith (brother & sister-in-law), Corray and Janine Smith (brother & sister-in-law). 

Noreen was preceded in death by: Terry Clawson (husband), Tyler Clawson (son), Jenni Clawson Braunberger (daughter), Matthew Brown (son-in-law), Cleon Smith (father), Ellen Zilles Smith (mother), Leland Dane Smith (brother-in-law), Zan W Christensen (brother-in-law) and Sherman Smith (brother). 

We will miss you Noreen. We will miss your sometimes tough exterior which always led to a loving heart and many happy laugh-filled memories. We love you!! We hope you enjoy your new life with friends and family till we see you again. 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD FOR NOREEN WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2024 AT NOON IN THE ROSEHILL WARD LDS CHAPEL 4150 WEST OLD HIGHWAY ROAD, MT. GREEN, UT. WITH A VIEWING BEFORE THE SERVICE AT 10:30 AM -11:30 AM
