MORGAN – Patricia Mae Tracy Baker, 92, passed away quietly on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from natural causes.
She was born February 10, 1923 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Aaron Ward Tracy and Ethel Winnifred Marriott.
Mae was married to Walter I. Baker May 14, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized July 15, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and served faithfully throughout her life in many different callings.
Mae grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden City schools, graduating from Ogden High School in 1941. In her early childhood, Mae’s father, Aaron Tracy, was President of Weber State College where she spent many memorable hours playing, cleaning, and interacting with students and faculty alike.
She worked for the IRS in Ogden and retired after 24 years of service.
As a talented seamstress, Mae enjoyed making beautiful dresses and clothing for her children and grandchildren. She had even made her own wedding dress.
Because she was sensitive to others needs, Walt (Dad) often referred to Mae as “Mother Teresa”.
If she wasn’t sitting at the sewing machine, you could find her kneeling in the garden pulling weeds or planting flowers under the shade of her large-brimmed straw hat.
Mae is survived by her daughters Marguerite (Stephen) Call, Rebecca Crompton, Melissa Neurer, Amy (Mike) Smith; son, Brad (Topaz) Baker, 23 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; her sister, Marian Clawson, and brother Oman Tracy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, four sisters, and two granddaughters.
We love you mom. All flowers remind us of you.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Highlands Ward, 5378 W Old Highway Road, Morgan, Utah. Family will greet friends from 9:45 to 10:45.
