They say many artists don’t realize their own talent. That was PJ.
His gifts to us were many. He loved unconditionally, he was kind, he braved rough seas, he shared literally EVERYTHING he had. PJ comforted those around him, he judged no one, he shared his ideas. He dreamed of peace, he studied all cultures, he recited philosophies, he created masterpieces, he danced in the rain, he put his soul into his art, he laughed at himself, he gave freely, he adored his children, and reveled in the joy of being a kid with them. He saw potential art in every object, he protected his mother, he loved his sister, he had an artist’s eye, and he created a legacy. He made us all proud.
PJ, you taught us to laugh at the absurd, feel the color of music, lift the fallen, understand that possessions might be garbage, and trash could be a treasure. You were your mom’s best son, and our hero of tenacity as you strived to overcome. In your death there is a rebirth that we will see through the sunlight, rain, earth and sky. Real wisdom comes in the stillness of silence, but most of all you taught us how to make “beauty from ashes”.
We know you gave everything you ever had to be with us. Our meager gift back to you is a cradle made of “ugly wood”. We now see with the “artist’s eye” the beauty in that creation, only because of you. We will miss your gracious heart and contagious smile. Your laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
In accordance with PJ’s wishes, a Viking funeral is planned. Please join us as we set PJ to sea in a fiery blaze of glory. Just kidding. We didn’t have a barge or a sea.
An outdoor memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 5, 2017 at the Mountain Green Bowery, 4222 Cottonwood Canyon Road, Mountain Green, UT 84050. From approximately 1:45-3:00, a celebration of PJ’s life will commence. Please join us and come as you are. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any photos of PJ you may have, as well as written stories and memories.
