MORGAN, UTAH – Ralph Burton Lewis, 89, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2016 surrounded by his family. Ralph “Burton” was born on August 19, 1926 in Riverdale, Utah to Ernest Page and Doris Laurena Lewis. The family moved to Morgan, Utah shortly afterward where he attended school and learned the work ethics he practiced throughout his life.
Two days before his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific. After the war, Ralph met and fell in love with Barbara Ann Bowen. They married in 1947 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1955.
Ralph worked at Hill AFB and owned a dairy farm but his favorite job was as bus driver for Morgan County Schools. He was Director of Transportation for Morgan County School District for over 20 years.
Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; son, Thomas Bowen; his parents; one sister, Karen Robertson; daughter in law, Edie Lewis and a son-in-law Arnold Nelson. He is survived by his children: Peggy Nelson of Roy; Marsha Talbot (Don) of West Haven; Bruce Lewis (Pam) of Morgan; Dennis Lewis (Susie) of Sunset; Mark Lewis (Cheryl) of Farmington and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and four sisters, LaVon Johnson, Wilford Lewis, Helen Bushman, Lonnie Lewis, DeAnna Hatch, Craig Lewis, and Rena Funk.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 13 at 1:00 pm in the Morgan 5th Ward, 2700 S. Morgan Valley Dr, Morgan, Utah. Friends may call on Sunday, June 12, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 W. 200 N., Morgan UT and from 12:00-12:45 at the church prior to the services.
