Ray Whitaker

July 25, 1929 — December 28, 2010

MORGAN - Ray P. Whitaker returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his family Tuesday December 28, 2010. Ray was born in Downey, Idaho July 25, 1929 to Claude & Cecil Porter Whitaker. Ray was raised in Morgan by an Aunt and Uncle Charles and Nina Tonks.

He married his high school sweetheart Maisie Dickson in the Salt Lake Temple on May 04, 1949. He owned and operated Ray's Custom Meats. He was active in his community and in his church. He served in the Elders Quorum Presidency, High Priest Group, Sunday School President and was a dedicated home teacher.

He enjoyed horses and horse racing, hunting, following the wrestling team and R.V.ing with his friends and his monthly lunches with his Swift & Co. buddies. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters Ann (Jeff) Wardell & Joan (Chet) Adams both of Morgan, eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. Other survivors include sister-in-laws Barbara Whittier, Dixie Porter, brother-in-laws Norris Dickson, Lee Dickson and two sisters Maye Francis and Deone Durrant and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother Don Whitaker, and three sisters Claudean Whitaker, Twila Whitaker and Gail Birt.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 04, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Field Street Church 240 So. 300 West; Morgan. Friends and family may call at the Walker Mortuary 45 West 200 North; Morgan on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning January 4, 2011 at the Field St. LDS Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the South Morgan Cemetery.
