Raymond L. Allen, 88, passed away on March 18, 2024.
Ray was born to Frank and Lucile Cambridge Allen on March 19, 1935, in Cedarville, CA. He grew up hunting and fishing. After graduating from Lassen Union High School in Bieber, CA, Ray received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from Cal Poly San Louis Obispo and a Master's in Science from the University of Utah. He married Amy Yamashiro after meeting her while skiing at Alta.
Ray worked for McDonnell Douglas, Thiokol, Hill Air Force Base, and Browning Arms. He was an engineer who designed numerous guns, knives, bows, and fishing rods. He also received a design award for the BOSS rifle accuracy system.
He had two children, Melissa Allen Shays and Chad Allen, and two grandsons, Kai and Tate Shays.
Ray always had a project he was working on. He went on big outdoor adventures, traveled the world, and knew the best pie and coffee shops throughout the West. How will you remember Ray? Tough. Sweet. Perfectionist. Leader. Obstinate. Fair. Outdoorsman. Friend.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the South Morgan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ray would ask you to please help someone or spend time with your loved ones.
