Richard Fawcett

April 8, 1936 — August 20, 2013

Richard G. Fawcett, age 77, of Henefer, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, August 20, 2013, surrounded by his wife and children.

Richard was born on April 8, 1936 to Leo J. and Clairene Gunn Fawcett.

Growing up in Henefer, he learned the value of hard work, lifelong bonds of friendship and the principal of a gentlemen's handshake being his word of honor. Dad's hands were the hands of a working man, and the work he loved the most was working on the family farm. He graduated from North Summit High School.

In 1956, he married Yvonne Christensen in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

They had three children; Lynne, (Howard) Fishman, Kent Fawcett, Connie (Dennis) Rees. Together they raised their children in Henefer where they loved to bowl, fish, camp, and snowmobile with friends and family. Dad worked as a butcher in Ogden and then as a procurement officer for the Bureau of Reclamation. This latter position took him out of town where he worked on various projects. He enjoyed the people he met and worked with. He was most proud of a citation he received from the Secretary of the Interior describing how much money he had saved the Bureau during his tenure. He was also proud to tell friends and family of his citation from the State of Missouri proclaiming him an honorary Okie. This plaque was proudly displayed on his wall next to "his" recliner.

Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, their 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and brother Eugene. While it would be impossible to thank every person individually who cared for dad over the past months, we need to express our appreciation to Dr. Wain Allen, Jeanette Vernon, and the staff of the Coalville Health Center as well as the caring hands and hearts of the dedicated staff of Encompass Home Health and Hospice.

A viewing will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Henefer LDS Church. Funeral services will be held Friday at noon, August 23, 2013 in the Henefer Church with a viewing from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to the services. Interment will be held at the Henefer Cemetery.
