On September 26th 2021, Richard Adrian Furniss (76) returned home with his wife Sharon Joy Furniss. Richard was born on Feb. 19, 1945 in Jackson Hole, WY to Denton and Janette Furniss. He was raised in Wyoming and Springville Utah. Richard loved his country and proudly served in the US Navy where he fought in the Vietnam war. He married Sharon Joy Buckway on Sept 1st, 1973 in Ogden, UT. Gaining 5 bonus kids from the start of their marriage, he loved his 5 bonus kids like his own. He and Sharon had 3 kids together, their youngest being the light of their lives. He also had a special bond with his grandkids, all of whom he helped raise. He loved being their Grumpy Gramps.
Richard loved to go camping, taking his family on trips to Flaming Gorge and North Fork were two of his favorite spots. He loved going on his guys' camp outs with his brothers, sons, grandsons and his nephews. He loved fishing and hunting. He also developed a talent for wood carving that started out with using only dental tools that he had been given. After the passing of his wife Sharon he was able to care for their special daughter with whom he loved and cherished every moment he spent with her. They had a special bond.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Joy Buckway, his parents Denton and Jeanette Furniss and his infant sister Ellen. He is survived by his children Tammy Christman of Oregon, Danene (Rick) Fowler of Farr West, Richard (DeeDee) Cameron of Enterprise, Greg Cameron of Ogden, Danny (Diana) Cameron of Uintah, Beckie (Jason) Reisen of Roy, Ryan (K’Leena) Furniss of Sunset and his special Princess daughter Jennifer Furniss of Roy. His siblings Alan (Karen) Furniss of West Jordan, Carolyn Clark of Ivins, Chriss (Dolores) Furniss of Kaysville, Joyce Kay of Clearfield and Lenora (Ray) Zwernik of Roosevelt. Also 20 grandkids and 34 great grandkids. And many Nieces and Nephews. He cherished every moment he got to spend with his family.
The family would like to thank Willow Glen Health and Rehab in Brigham and Renew Health Care for caring for and loving him.
Graveside services will be held Sunday October 17th, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Uintah Cemetery ( 1500 E 6450 S) we will be having a celebration of life luncheon immediately afterwards at the Uintah City Park and Scout House ( 2191 E 6550 S)
