Richard Allen Sloan, 79, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and friend passed away February 19, 2012 after struggling with Alzheimer and Parkinson disease for the last eight years.
Richard was born December 18, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Hyrum and Margaret Saeumert Sloan. Richard graduated from Granite High School in 1951. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He married his eternal sweetheart, Jolean Everett, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1958. He held many church callings including being a scout master, financial clerk and most of all, enjoyed serving in the Ogden Temple with his wife as an ordinance worker. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He later retired from Hill A.F.B. and then drove school bus for Morgan School District. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jolean. His children are Rick (Pam) Sloan, David (Kitty) Sloan, Deanna (Layne) Tilby, Dean (Angie) Sloan, Jim (Becky) Sloan, Brian (Christa) Sloan, Miles (Kelley) Sloan, Theresa (Chad) Spencer, Alan (Alyson) Sloan, 35 Grandchildren, 17 A½ Great Grandchildren, "Betty" Anderson (sister) and "Bob" Sloan (brother). He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margaret, and brothers; Joe, Bill, Roy, Leonard, and Don.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clinton, UT Chapel, 1708 W. 800 N. and on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the Milton Ward Chapel, 1255 N. Morgan Valley Dr., Morgan, UT prior to funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Mountain Green Cemetery. Our family would like to express our love and gratitude to Hospice for Utah (Maggie, Holly, and Jackie), Clyde Sharp, Dixie Stott, and Suzanne Phillips.
