Robert Larson Stokes

November 19, 1941 — October 16, 2024

Coalville

Robert Larson Stokes, 82, died peacefully Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at his home in Chalk Creek, surrounded by loved ones.

Bob was born November 19, 1941 in Coalville, UT to William Jessop and Selma Laurine Larson Stokes. On September 18, 1964 he married Ruby Barbara Porter Stokes in Morgan, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 1, 1967. Bob’s earliest years were spent up chalk creek playing in the cedar hills, swimming in the river, and helping his dad with the animals and land. He graduated from North Summit High School in 1960 and later enlisted into the US Army Reserves. After he was discharged, he worked for the Devil’s Slide Cement Plant for 37 years where he made life long friends. After retirement, he worked at Moore’s Towing and was a temple worker on Saturday’s in the Ogden Temple. Bob’s greatest joy was following his grandkid’s around to all of their sporting, dancing, and singing events and their greatest joy was tormenting and teasing him. Grandpa was a great sport. Bob was known for his kind spirit, humor, daily walks, and infamous ability to drink a full glass of water (or beer in his younger years) in just one swallow. His children and grandchildren failed many times in attempting to beat him in a chug-a-lug contest.

Bob often reminisced about taking his boys and nephews hunting/fishing, four wheeling with friends, playing poker in Porterville, and his childhood. He will be greatly missed but what a sweet reunion he must be having with his wife, parents, siblings, and others that he has missed so much.

Bob is survived by his three boys, Robbie(Gail), Gary(Shauna), Brandon Stokes, and Jennifer Stokes; his four grandchildren, Brittney(Scott), Camryn, Kylee Jo(Kyler), and Ruby Ann(Holden); and three great grandchildren, Brixton, Beau, and Kase. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Ruby Stokes; his parents, William and Selma Stokes, his siblings, Billy Stokes and Shirley Hicken; his father and mother-in-law, Russel and Barbara Porter; and many other loved ones.

Thank you to the Enhabit hospice team and a special thank you to Stephanie Morris.
