Robyn Cruff
Robyn Sue Turner Cruff's mortal life spanned forty-two years and fourteen hours before she returned to her heavenly home; cancer claimed her body but not her spirit. She was born August 3, 1967 and died August 4, 2009.
Robyn was the first-born of Jan K. and Francis B. Turner. She felt fortunate to have lived her formative years in the small town of Morgan, Utah. Excelling in academics, Robyn was a Sterling Scholar winner in Foreign Language and was one of six Utah students who received a Presidential Citation Award for academic excellence and community service her graduating year.
After receiving a BA degree in Liberal Arts from Utah State and a Masters degree in Linguistics from the University of Utah, Robyn taught English as a Second Language for 20 years. She began her teaching career at Weber State and was most recently a professor at Salt Lake Community College. Robyn taught her last class four days before passing away. Many students have benefited from Robyn's expertise and dedicated service, and Robyn felt her own life was greatly enriched by their varied backgrounds.
On July 19, 1997, Robyn married Kenneth D. Cruff in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Robyn was blessed to be the mother of Jane and Clarissa and the step-mother of Emily and Lauren. Being a wife and a mother were her most fulfilling roles.
Robyn is survived by her husband, daughters, parents, and siblings Reba (William) Branch, Lane (Amy) Turner, Samantha Turner, Allison (Chad) Gonzales, Aaron Turner, Ryan (ShaNell) Turner, April (Sean) FitzGerald, Jonathon (Jessica) Turner, and Spencer (Kristal) Turner. Robyn is also survived by her brothers-in-law Roy (Mica) Cruff and Bill Cruff. Robyn had a great love for her 20 nieces and nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Reba Turner & grandfather Lawrence Burton.
Robyn was incredibly thoughtful and supportive a�" she never forgot a birthday and often gave gifts just because she thought someone would appreciate them. Robyn's example of selflessness, service, and strength endeared her to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bennion Heights 3rd Ward meetinghouse located at 5775 S. 2700 W. Taylorsville, UT. A family viewing will be held an hour before the funeral service; interment will be in the South Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, Utah. Funeral services are under the direction of Walker Mortuary.
