Roy Baugh

April 18, 1938 — November 29, 2012

MORGAN - David LeRoy Baugh Jr. "Roy" passed away November 29, 2012 after an 8 year battle with liver disease. Roy was born April 18, 1938 to David LeRoy and Edith Mary Amidan Baugh in Slaterville, Utah. After living in Ogden until he was 6 years old, they moved to North Ogden where his father built an auto mechanic garage adjacent to their home which was a huge part of their lives. Roy's father taught him how to work on cars and farm machinery and most of all taught and passed on the 'Baugh Tidy Gene.'

Roy attended Weber High School and was enrolled in the Civil Air Patrol, graduating from both in 1956. After graduation, he joined Air National Guard, attending basic training in San Antonio, Texas and specialized electronics training in Biloxi, Mississippi.

After finishing his service, Roy went to work for Sperry Utah, now known as L3. Throughout the years, he worked for Utah State Road Maintenance, Mortenson Brothers, Carrigan Motors, Cummins Diesel and finally Holcim Cement Company, where he retired in 2000 after 28 years of service. Roy also owned and operated Roy's Tax Service for many years.

On November 23, 1966, Roy married Judith J. Lee Jones. They, along with her daughter Marlene, waited five long years before welcoming their son Michael.

Roy and Judy loved travel. One of their most memorable trips was in 2000, spending two and a half months driving and staying in their trailer through Alaska. They spent a good part of their winters in Arizona and summers in the Uinta Mountains. While in the Uintas they met Mark and Tracy Hollingshead who became like family to them.

Roy was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as Ward Clerk. He served as Scoutmaster for many years and it was one of his greatest joys. Many young men received their Eagle Scout under his leadership, including his son Michael.

All who knew Roy knew what a hard and dedicated worker he was. His ability to build or repair anything seemed limitless. He would always do anything to help those in need and passed his vast knowledge of many things onto others. He will be greatly missed.

Roy is survived by his wife Judy, of 46 years; children Marlene Jones Toone (Gary), Michael A. Baugh (Janica Johnson); grandchildren Blakelee and Deagan Baugh and their mother Lisa, Janica's son Jordan, Michael, Tyler and Casey Toone; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Ray (Carole) Baugh, Steven (Alice) Baugh and two sisters Glenda (Brent) Ellis, Barbara (Bruce) Hansen.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Roy's doctors and all of the caring staff at Washington Terrace Care Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at 12 noon in the Morgan Stake Chapel, 355 N. 700 E. Morgan, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Morgan and Thursday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
