Russell Jones

May 11, 1967 — April 17, 2009

WEST POINT - Russell Vaun Jones, 41 beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend died Friday, April 17, 2009 from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident.

Russell was born May 11, 1967 to loving parents, Thomas and Elsena Jones. He grew up in West Point the sixth of eight children. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.

Growing up, Russell was a Cub Scout and this early experience gave him a love for the outdoors. He attended West Point Elementary, North Davis Junior High, and Clearfield High School and after graduation he worked as a mechanic and was well known for his expertise of recreational vehicles and small engine repair. Russell enjoyed riding motorcycles, 4-wheelers, snowmobiling, deer hunting and building motorcycles when he worked for ATK. Russell was currently working at Day Power and Equipment in Roy, Utah, repairing lawn and garden equipment. He will be missed by his family and friends who knew him as "Jolly Old Russell." He had a fun sense of humor and was always teasing and playing practical jokes. He also enjoyed watching movies, eating his popcorn and listening to music. Russell was very giving and whenever he saw someone that needed something fixed, he would jump in and help without being asked.

Russell's greatest gift was an organ donor and many other families' lives will be forever changed.

Russell is survived by his father and mother, Thomas and Elsena Jones of West Point; seven brothers and sisters: Karrie Jackson of Clearfield ; Sharolyn Jones of Layton; Leelan (Cynthia) Jones of Monticello, Minnesota; Ladena Sellers of West Point; Arlin Jones of West Point; Sharla (Dee) Weaver of Clinton; and Rondell Jones of West Point. Also surviving are 14 nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the West Point 14th Ward Chapel (2865 W. 300 N., West Point, UT).

Friends and family may call at the church Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Interment, Henefer Cemetery.
