Shirley Storey

October 14, 1933 — January 4, 2017

Shirley Marie Storey, 83, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving husband and family on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.

Shirley was the only child of Harold and Ada Houghton, born in Hot Springs South Dakota, and later moving to Ogden, Utah where she grew up and graduated from Ogden High School in 1952. While at Ogden High she met her sweetheart, Keith Storey. They were married and sealed on November 15, 1951, in the Logan Temple.

Keith and Shirley together raised six children: Robyn (Gordon Cutler), Bruce, David (Pat), Valarie (Perry Raleigh), Aaron (Shaunna), Tyler (Elsie), and two grandchildren: Carol (Ian Costley), and Josh.

She is survived by her husband, six children, 20 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons.

Shirley was an active member of the LDS church where she served in many responsibilities throughout her life. She was involved in the early days of the church extraction program where she learned how to read German and spent 9 years as a stake genealogy extraction missionary. She and Keith were also able to serve a 1-year fulltime church service mission in the inner city Ogden Mission. Shirley had and loved many hobbies and activities during her life, and always had to have something to do and learn. She learned to sew, quilt, crochet, macramé, and was always painting or coloring something. She and Keith were very active in the early square dancing scene where they met many lifelong friends. Square dancing turned into camping trips, motorcycle trips, snowmobiling and many other group adventures.

Many thanks to Ryan, Russell, and Tiffany from Intermountain Home Health and Hospice and the great neighbors of the Enterprise ward for all the loving care and service provided.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at 12 noon in the Morgan North Stake Chapel, 2755 W Old Hwy Road, Morgan, UT.  Friends and family may call at the church Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Mountain Green Cemetery.
