Stephen Hendricks

Logan a�" Stephen Charles Hendricks, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his daughter's home in Millville, Utah after a long battle with emphysema. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren who love him very much.

He was born in Morgan, Utah to Bonita Smith Croft and Charles J. Hendricks on December 27, 1943.

He had a great love for the outdoors. He loved horses, hunting, fishing and rodeo and spending time with his family. He rode saddle bronc in his younger days.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He was called to duty in 1963 to serve in the Vietnam War as a door gunner on a Medi-Vac Helicopter. While serving in Vietnam, his helicopter was shot down twice and he was wounded once. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for many years and retired because of a disability.

He married Frances Daly in 1965, had four children and later divorced. He married Carol Buck, had three children and later divorced. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor. We love and miss you, Dad, and look forward to being reunited with you.

He is survived by his best friend, Petey Pup; two uncles: Don (Sam) Smith, Steve (Lorraine) Smith; brother, Jay Wilson; two sisters: Toni (Brent) Ewing, Laurie (Joseph) Quartuccio; five children Elizabeth (Brian) Wolfe Byington, Virginia (Robert Poulson) Hendricks, Alan Hendricks, Mark Jensen, James Hendricks; two stepchildren, Jeff (Wendy) Storey, Melanee (David) Spendlove; 18 grandchildren: Patrick Spendlove, Lara Boen, Jason Green, Kacee Hendricks, Britany Spendlove, Stephanie Green, Silver Jo Storey, Vincent Hendricks, Kyla Carter, Caleb Wolfe, Morgan Lauterbach, Braiden Byington, Nicholas Carter, Hunter Wolfe, Kadyen Hendricks, Kayliegh Lauterbach, Faith Hendricks, Kira Jensen; two great grandchildren: Madison Strasner, Levi Steven Hendricks; five nephews; two nieces; and many life-long friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Dawn and Stacy Hendricks; sister, Laura Amelia Wilson; his parents, Bonita Smith Croft and Charles J. Hendricks; his stepfather, Wayne H. Croft; his grandparents, Pearl and Joseph Smith; aunts and uncles; and best friend, Bud.

We would like to thank Praxair for their years of dedicated service. A special thanks to everyone at Alpine Hospice for the kind and loving care they have given to Dad for the past two years. Dr. Kevin Duke, you gave us another two very important years with Dad that we will never forget. Thanks to Joyce Larsen for the many hours you spent visiting our Dad; to Jon Bailey for all the special gifts you brought to brighten his day; and to his nurse, Jeremy Jensen for your patience, kindness and for all the love you gave him in his final days. You will always be in our hearts. Lara, his granddaughter, thank you for being at my side when I needed you most, I will never forget.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, 45 W. 200 N. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 at the mortuary and also Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
