Terry A. Dallin ,79, of Coalville, Utah, returned home to the loving arms of his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, surrounded by those he loved most, his family.
Terry was born in Bear River City, Utah, to Arnold and LaVon Dallin on Feb 14, 1937. He was the sixth of seven children. Terry married Catherine Chase in the Logan LDS Temple on March 11, 1960, and they have visited there many times throughout the years. Terry graduated from Utah State University in 1965 with a degree in Agronomy. He worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 32 years, surveying much of Oregon and Utah prior to retiring in 1996. He especially enjoyed working at Moore’s Chevron and visiting with the local people. During retirement he enjoyed time spent with family.
Terry loved his Heavenly Father very much and served in many callings within the church including Bishoprics, Branch Presidencies, High Priest group leader, and with the Young Men including Scouting. He loved working with wood, creating many beautiful projects. He loved gardening and took great pride in his flower and vegetable gardens and freely shared that labor of love with others. His family’s annual trip to Bear Lake each summer was a highlight every year. He was known locally for his photography; including many wedding, family, and missionary portraits. He was very fond of the many dogs he had as pets over the years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him dearly.
Terry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cathie, and their children: Dave (Tamara) Dallin of Holden, Utah; Rob (Natalie) Dallin of Preston, Idaho; Becky (Larry) Smith of Brighton, Colorado; and Steve (Bridgit) Dallin of Henefer, Utah; brother, Dennis Dallin; sister-in-law, Bette Dallin; brothers-in-law, Lee (Elaine) Johnsen, Tom Harsha; as well as many nieces and nephews. Grandpa “T” is also survived by 14 adoring grandchildren and 1 darling great-granddaughter. Terry was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents; a brother, Roger Dallin; and four sisters, Arva Archibald, Velma Graves, Tully Johnsen, and Margie Doughton.
A special thanks, on behalf of the family, to all the physicians, nurses, and staff at the ICU at McKay-Dee Hospital for the special care and kind-hearted treatment shown to Terry and family.
