Henefer a" Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend died Wednesday August 25, 2010 of complications incident to cancer. She was born November 8, 1927 in Littleton, Utah the only daughter of Leonard D. and Edith Carter Johanson. She enjoyed many things in her life, her children, grandchildren and associations with friends and neighbors. After many years of collecting photographs, newspaper articles, and any mention of her family she created the most wonderful memory and picture books for each family member and grandchild.

She enjoyed the search for her ancestors and finding the histories of the generations past and has filled many books with the pictures and stories of many of these family members.

In her early years she enjoyed working with the Summit County Fair receiving and preparing the exhibits for showing. She was a member of the Veterans Auxiliary for Women and enjoyed her association with Veterans from around the country along with her husband at the World War II Submarine conventions. She was involved in the LDS church as a primary teacher, librarian and relief society worker. She greatly enjoyed her opportunity to visit many members of her ward as a visiting teacher, and loved being the historian for the Henefer basketball tournaments. She enjoyed camping with friends at Swiss days in Heber for 28 years and looked forward to each new season.

She is survived by her children: Jay (Dorothy) Ovard of Henefer, and Kevin (Nancy) Ovard of Morgan; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, brothers Norris (Patti), Robert (Betty), Malin (Janice) Johanson and Grace Johanson a special sister law.

She is also survived by two Navajo American Indian foster children raised on the Church Placement Program. They are Effie Elmer of Tuba City Az., and Julie Castiana of Kirkland NM, and several foster grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Keith and Donald Johanson, and one great granddaughter, Marissa Grace Christofferson, foster grandson Michael Billy, and foster great granddaughter Amanda Billy.
