Tony Hassell

Tony was the son of James Andrew Hassell and Mary Ellen Sholly. He was born September 28, 1942 in Ogden, Utah. 

He graduated from Morgan High school in 1960 and then went onto Weber State College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree, in Physical Education and minor in Sociology while on scholarship playing football. He eventually earned his LCSW and dedicated 40 years of his career to Youth Corrections. 

Over the span of his career, he was the first Director of Moweda Youth Home for 17 years, Director of Millcreek Secure Youth Facility, Director of Farmington Bay Youth Center, Utah State Probation and Parol Officer, and Superintendent for Observation and Assessment for the State of Utah. He served 34 years as a Judge for Morgan County Justice Court, eventually retiring in 2012. 

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many leadership positions within the church. His core values he expected from his children and people he surrounded himself with was to be honest, stay close to heavenly father, pray, and always keep the faith. Tony loved Morgan County and the many friends and he made over the course of his life. 

His favorite place on earth was the mountains, and in retirement he spent as many days as possible at his cabin in Oakley, UT. 

He is survived by his wife Norma, their three children Lance (Jeff), Layna, Lindsay (Julie) his four beloved grandchildren Hallee, Krew, Kye, and Harper along with siblings Jim (Penny), Ginger Stewart, and Mark (Tina).

A visitation will be held on March 22, 2025 from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the Morgan North Stake Center building (4270 Cottonwood Canyon Rd., Mountain Green, UT 84050), with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m.
