Veda Brooks

HENEFER a�" Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many was reunited with her husband and loved ones on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Veda was born May 9, 1916 in Henefer, Utah to James H. and Susannah Stephens Fowler. She was the fifth of six children. She graduated from North Summit High School where she played the saxophone in the band and was the studentbody secretary. After graduating she married her high school sweetheart, Wayne (Jimmy) Brooks in the Logan LDS Temple August 27, 1935. They had five children: Kenneth (Marilyn) of Ogden; Marlin (Sue) of Morgan; Jimmie (Barbara) of Henefer; Eva (Clyde) Bradford of Spanish Fork; and Lee (Tammy) of Pensacola, Florida.

Veda was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as Relief Society President in the Henefer Ward. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for 50 years. She resided in Henefer her entire life and participated in many community activities. She prepared many meals, cakes and cookies to assist families.

She loved to embroider handmade items for her family. She loved the quilting bees with her many friends. Most important was the friend shipping and socializing. She supported her children and grandchildren in numerous livestock shows. She was an avid fan of the Henefer Ward basketball tournaments for 65 years. She will always be remembered for her kindness.

Veda was preceded in death by her husband Wayne (Jimmy) Brooks on April 19, 1984 and a grandson, Rick Evans. She is survived by her children, 26 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Henefer Church. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the church.

Interment will be held at the Henefer Cemetery.
