Vern Merritt Wright

Vern Merritt Wright passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023, in Morgan, Utah.

He was born July 5, 1938, as one of the triplets (Vern, Verl, and Vera) born to Osmyn and Rachel Wright, of Henefer, Utah.

After graduating from North Summit High School, he earned a degree in accounting from Weber State. He worked for LDS Hospital, NAPA, and the University of Utah Medical Center.

He and his brother Verl were called to serve as missionaries in the New England States area and had the unique opportunity to be missionary companions for part of their two-year calling. Vern also served six years in the Air Force Reserves.

He enjoyed road trips with his family in their VW camper van, attending Weber State football & basketball games, deer hunting, and telling everyone he met how proud he was of his kids.  He supported his children in all their sports, including taking his daughters to University of Utah gymnastic meets in the 80's.

He is survived by his former wife Marcia, their children Troy, Michelle, Kimberlee, and Blake; and seven grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Fern, Elna, Verl, and Vera.

Vern’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of The Family Tree Assisted Living of Morgan for providing such loving care over the past five years. They would also like to thank the Intermountain Healthcare Hospice team for providing comfort and care to Vern during his last few weeks of life. 

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27th at the Henefer cemetery. Immediately  following the service, a reception will be held at 6066 North Robinson Lane, Mountain Green, UT 84050
