Vonda Pendleton, 77, of Peterson, Utah, died on April 20, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Vonda was born on June 29, 1932 in Ogden, the daughter of Raymond J. and Ethel Brewer. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1950 and from the Dee Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. As a registered nurse, she worked in the Dee and McKay Dee Hospitals. Vonda married Otto Pendleton on February 15, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Otto and Vonda resided in Peterson, Utah where they raised their six children and operated Pendleton's Country Store from 1969 to 1985.
Vonda was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in the Primary and Relief Society. She and Otto served in the San Bernardino, California Mission from 1994 to 1995. She also participated in genealogical records extraction for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing, making many beautiful items for friends and family and thousands of items of children's clothing for the LDS Humanitarian Center. Despite many health problems, she was tireless in her efforts to be productive and helpful.
Vonda is preceded in death by her sisters Louise Carrigan and Maurine Hawks and brothers Mervin and Ivan, her husband Otto, and daughter Karen.
She is survived by her brother Arlin Brewer and children Janis Raje (Subodh), Phoenix, AZ; Sharol Warner (Darryl), Ogden, UT; Donald (Tamara), Springville, UT; Curtis (Catherine), Springville, UT; Diane Lehman (Christoper), San Bernardino, CA; and 20 grandchildren.
Her family wishes to express appreciation to the many friends and family who have supported her and made her life a pleasure.
A viewing will be held on Friday April 23, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, and on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the LDS chapel in Enterprise, 2755 W Old Hwy Road, Morgan, UT. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am with interment in the Peterson Cemetery.
