Wayne Jones

UPTON, UTAH a�" Wayne Allen Jones, 79 years old, passed away on March 27, 2013 at his home in Upton, Utah.
Wayne was born in Upton, Utah on August 24, 1933 to George Allen Jones and Mabel Leon Clark. He attended school in Coalville and graduated from North Summit High.
He married his high school sweetheart, Kay Simister, on February 10, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five wonderful children who brought much joy into his life.
Wayne served his country proudly in the US 7th Army Artillery Division in Germany from May 1955 to May 1957.
Wayne was a sheep and cattle rancher all his life and also enjoyed riding his horse, Sue, until his passing. He was an accomplished rider and was very proud of his grandchildren who shared his passions for the sheep, cattle and horses.
He served as a counselor in the Bishopric of the Upton Ward along with many callings in the church. He especially enjoyed working with the youth in the 4-H program.
He was a Director of the Utah Wool Marketing, President of the JayCees, and President of the Pine View Irrigation Company. He was also a member of the Wool Growers and Utah Cattleman's Association.
He leaves behind his faithful friend and companion, Joey (Border Collie) who has stuck by his side every day and will truly miss his master.
Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, KayLeen and his parents and two sisters and their husbands: Fern (Fay) Boyer and Valeen (Melvin) Shaw and brother-in-law, Merrill Orgill.
He is survived by his eternal companion Kay; sons: Michael (Mary Ann), Upton, UT, Scott (Jill) Evanston, WY, Todd (Cindy) Dutch John, UT, and Wade (Wendy) South Jordan, UT; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, will miss him very much; three sisters: Frieda Orgill, Lorene (Gail) Billings, and Wilma (Ward) Morby and many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Encompass Hospice Home Health Care and their dedicated staff, especially Sheryl, Cory Ann, Cassie and Kaylee for their kindness, concern and service.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 12 noon at the Upton Ward, Upton, Utah. Friends and family may call on the family prior to the services from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Upton Church.
Interment will be held in the Upton Cemetery.
