Wayne Mortenson

Forrest Wayne Mortenson, 91, returned to his Heavenly Father on September 18, 2008. He was born on April 29, 1917 in Porterville, Utah to Albert Charles Mortenson and Margaret Evelyn Dearden.

Wayne married the love of his life, Elsie Marjorie Luckey on September 13, 1937. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1949. He was "Daddy" to nine adoring daughters.

Wayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings including a sealing team in the temple.

He loved athletics and excelled in basketball and baseball. He bowled and was in the Jack and Jill Square Dance Club. Wayne was a member of the Morgan County Search and Rescue and received an award for his forty years of service. He also loved his horses.

Wayne always had a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin.

Surviving are his wife and children: Pat (Alton) Olsen, Morgan; Carol (Don) Preece, Morgan; Cleo (Denny) Stuart, Morgan; Judy (Leon) Carter, Morgan; Ann Hardman, Sandy; Susan (Jeff) Ovard, Henefer; Brenda (Dennis) Hennefer, Henefer; Denise (Howard) Hansen, Morgan; Jill Fawcett, Henefer; 31 grandchildren, 51 great- grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, two son-in-laws, one grandson and one great grandson.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 at 12 noon in the Porterville Chapel. Friends may call at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Monday, September 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

The family would like to thank Legacy Health Care, especially Jodi, Addy, Jodi, Michelle; and daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Leon for their great care.
