Wilden Lee Dickson

July 29, 1937 — April 5, 2025

Morgan

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at the age of 87 at his home in Richville, Morgan County, Utah.

He was born July 29, 1937 in Richville, to Wilden Reed and Anona Porter Dickson. Lee married his sweetheart, Veloy Tonks, in the Salt Lake Temple on August 10, 1956.

Lee grew up in Morgan and upon graduating from Morgan High School in 1955, attended Weber College. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS, MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. He loved teaching, and taught at Weber State University for thirty-four years retiring in 1997. While there he received the “Presidential Distinguished Professor award, and was the favorite professor of many students.

He and Veloy loved living in and raising their children in Morgan where their ancestors had settled. He was proud to serve for one term as Morgan City Mayor.

Lee was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in a variety of positions including ward clerk, bishop’s counselor, bishop and a counselor in two stake presidencies. Lee and Veloy served a mission together in Cambodia (2004-2006) and also were ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple for many years.

He was the family fixer upper and was always called upon to repair or fix things. He loved to hunt and fish, but most of all he enjoyed working in his garden.

Lee had a vision to create a family retreat on his dad’s family farm in Richville. He and Veloy and their children and grandchildren worked long and hard to make an enjoyable haven near East Canyon Creek. Many great times were spent there, visiting, playing, and working together as a family.

Lee is survived by his wife, Veloy and three children: Gwen (Roger) Rich, Erika (Aaron) Bettinson, and Mark (Carrie) Dickson; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and his brother Norris Dickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Lance and Tonya; a granddaughter, Ambure Rich and a great-grandson, Tenzin Rich. Also three sisters; Barbara Whittier, Dixie Porter and Maisie Whitaker.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Corey and her Hospice team for their loving care and kindness.
